It’s Sunglass Season. Now What?

It’s officially spring. The weather is getting warmer as we head back outdoors. The sun is out more often and sits higher in the sky. And you know what that means. It’s not only sunscreen weather, but sunglass weather. And if you have a pair you just picked up without much forethought, you might want to think again.

Not every sunglass is equal.

  • Take the lens for example. Of course, we know that nothing protects the eye from all type of rays quite like a polarized lens. But there is the question of clarity. Sometimes it seems as though the tint of the sunglass makes it harder to see—but it shouldn’t. That’s why material such as Trivex is a top performer. It provides crystal-clear clarity for optimum visibility.
  • Then there’s the frame. The weight of the frame is another issue. Lightweight, well-fitting frames minimize the headaches that come with being weighed down by heavy glasses. What material is it? And the shape? Oh, the shape! That’s probably where most people get bogged down. Which shape looks best on my face? If you have strong, angular features to your face, you might want a round shape to soften it. If your face is round, you’ll want oversized frames to balance it out. And if you’re heart-shaped? Round and oval frames will work for you
  • Buying from a reliable source is important. If you have a problem, you want to know they’ll be around to take care of it. And you want a company that uses the best component parts for things like hinges and finishes. It’s tempting to pick up that pair of sunglasses that costs $20, but as with everything, you get what you pay for. When you find glasses you love, you’ll be glad you made a little investment. You certainly don’t need to spend hundreds, but quality and potential customer service do count as added value.

Now go on. Get out and enjoy the outdoors. And remember, sunglasses are a fun, fashion accessory. If you take the time to get it right, your investment will last you for a long time to come.
